Networking in academia: How to become a person of influence

Networking in academia: How to become a person of influence In-Person / Online

As researchers, we want our work not only to be published and read but also to make an impact in the world. Nowadays, it’s a requirement of funded academic research. To do this, establishing networks and becoming a person of influence within them is an important part of the process. This workshop will explore the values and practices of networking in academia, enabling researchers to build supportive and effective networks which will enable them to achieve their goals. It will focus on practices to recognise and realise opportunities for influence and networking, as well as barriers/challenges that may be faced,  identifying ways of navigating these.
