Turning Points: Incorporating Reflective Practice about Gender and Diversity into Qualitative Interpretation In-Person / Online
Researcher Enhancement Series (RES)
(HYBRID SESSION)
Led by Dr Paula McIver Nottingham and Prof Anastasia Christou
We build on our own biographical foundations to explore who we see ourselves as researchers which develops the positioning we take for qualitative interpretation and analysis. Considering how your culture and background have influenced your unique perspectives have been generated are a part of the qualitative researcher preparation.
-
How do intra and intergenerational, gender and diversity issues relate to how you theorise and make sense of findings for new insights?
-
How can you use this experience in your own research analysis?
In this workshop we will look at how specific turning points, biographical critical incidents and milestones, can inform purpose and focus for those starting to think about how they will interpret data as a researcher. This relates to reflective practice for PGR experience and to the ways that we develop qualitative research strategies for interpreting and analysing data. For example, Braun and Clarke’s (2022) reflexive thematic analysis sets out to understand perspectives and points of view of others in order to incorporate them into more robust and significant research findings.
Together, we will look at the work of reflectors and activists, artists, poets and pragmatists for inspiration and guidance.
